みのほど【身の程】

one's social position [standing]; one's status; one's own place. [＝ぶんざい]

●身の程知らずのうぬぼれ overreaching [overweening] vanity.

●身の程を知らない fail to know oneself [one's place]; be self-conceited

・身の程を知らない男だ. 〔地位〕 He does not know his own station in life. | 〔生計〕 He lives beyond his means [income].

・身の程を知らない発言 a remark it is not one's place to make [one is out of place in making]

・私は身の程を知っている. I know my place [limitations].

・身の程を知れ. Know thyself! | You are forgetting yourself! | 〔分際を知れ〕 Know your own station in life! | Know your own place. | 〔柄にもないことをするな〕 Cut your coat according to your cloth. | 〔自分の能力を考えよ〕 You should know your limitations.
